About your trip
Just to clarify, this is a sight fishing trip with fly rod or spin if necessary, not a live bait trip (bait soaking) and we will not be killing (keeping) any fish for the cooler. If that is something you want, then I can steer you to another guide. Now we have those out of the way, trips begin at sunrise or other appointed time and end when we get back to the dock. I’m not going to leave good fish just because of time, if you want to fish a bit more than the allotted time that’s awesome. I will have available to you:
Cooler with Ice packs
Filtered water in reusable container
All fly or spinning equipment
PLEASE BRING:
Quality Sunglasses, Smith, Bajio etc. Copper or yellow base is best
Sunscreen (Preferably not spray)
Fishing attire (Ex.Long sleeves, hat, and pants)
I have extras of most things if it not something you can get in time and available to use if you let me know ahead of time. If you want to bring any of your personal flies or gear that’s fine as well. I will inspect it at the boat ramp make sure it will work for the day.
Keys to a successful trip:
Practice your casting
Most shots are 30-50 feet and must be in a small area (dinner plate.)
Getting your cast off quickly (within 5 seconds or two false casts)
Casting without moving your feet. Any vibration will spook the fish
I can work with anybody and help with casting if requested. Lets Go!
the Skiff
After many years of sight fishing and owning or riding in most of the major store bought skiffs, Capt Joe decided to do something crazy, to build something better. With starting plans from legendary skiff designer, Chris Morejohn, he tweaked and massaged the plans and started his skiff build. Over hundreds of hours of cutting, glassing, sanding, painting, and testing, he produced what he thinks is the best lagoon skiff around. Come take a ride in a truly one of a kind skiff!
